| I'm giving you the essentials to do well, not the formula for disodium monosulfide. Keeping it simple makes it less stressful and ALOT more fun and quick to learn.
Without further delay, my guide.
2) [Digging Methods]
Without digging skills, you won't get the spheres to get the traps to protect yourself in capture the flag. So lets get that skill up!
-Point One: Know The Terrain
The mining wall has several layers. The ones you need to know are the following:
Rock Upper Crust Lower Crust Foundation
The various items are found on the foundation. How can you tell the difference?
Rock = ...rock. For the examples: Whole Rocks Upper Crust = Darker Colored regions. Will show cracks Lower Crust = Lighter Colored regions. Will show cracks with whats under it) Foundation = Solid Silver Color. Can't dig deeper
-Point Two: Know The Tools
You have a Pick Axe and a Hammer. You will ALWAYS use the Pick Axe UNLESS you are in the following situations:
There is a 3 x 3 block of Rock There is a 3 x 3 block of Upper Crust
This rule can be bent if there is maybe 1 - 4 spaces where there is a lower layer, but no more than that.
Pickaxe [0][1][0] [1][2][1] [0][1][0]
Hammer
[1][2][1] [2][2][2] [1][2][1]
0 = no damage 1 = cracking type damage, i.e. making the rocks smaller, cracking a level, or if it's already cracked, breaks down to the next level 2 = a full level being destroyed.
-Point Three: Order Or Priority
Basically, you want to break as close to the foundation as possible and leave the thicker sections last. This way, you can unearth more items in less time (regardless of not finding that one or two random items burried under a ton of rock)
-Point Four: Breaking technique
The meat and potatos of this section. Follow the rules I provide here basically:
1) DO NOT pick at the outter most region of the wall (the edges and corners). This wastes valuable area damage you could use else where. The only time you pick at the edge or corner is if a section of an item is there.
2) Break in a Systematic fashion! This way, you do not waste digging into foundation or the lower layer crack that has nothing but foundation under it. For example: ABCD EF 1OOOOOO 2OOOOOO 3OOOOOO 4OOOOOO
You would never break any space in row 1 or Collum A because of rule 1. If you we're to use the pick axe on B2 resulting in...
ABCD EF 1OxOOOO 2xXxOOO 3OxOOOO 4OOOOOO
You would NOT make your next break @ D2 because it would spill into the first break you made. You would rather want to make your break @ E2, thus keeping your work area level, wasting less possible wall damage in the future.
3) Always use the Pickaxe unless there is a 3 x 3 (give or take 1 - 4 spaces or other crust types) section of rock or upper crust. In the case of rock, hammer that spot twice. In the case of Upper crust, hammer once. Then follow rule 2.
4) NEVER break a Lower Crust section that has a crack in it unless you can SEE there is an item under it. If there is nothing under it, you don't need to waste possible wall damage here then using that one or two extra pick axe hits in an area that has an item.
-Point Five: Unearthing the item
When you finally see an item through the cracks, it's time to unearth it with as little breaks as possible! The rules stated above are the basic general idea: Break from highest to lowest using as much of the break area as possible focused on unearthing the item.
-Point Six: PRACTICE!!!!
That is a general rule for life, but in this case, before asking yourself overly technial questions, just practice using what I have outlined above. You'll notice you'll start getting more and more items out of walls rather than calculating each and every strike more than you have to. Simple game: Simple idea: Simple technique, just requires a little mastery.
Also! Really important, if you dig up ALL the items in the section you are digging up, you will receive a bonus to the sizes of your spheres! It's not shown, but I beleive it's the only way to get sphere sizes 19+
Everyone has their own method of digging, this is mine. Works for me heh.
3) [Spheres Refining]
Now that you have a ton of spheres, you'll notice you'll run out of room eventually. From here, you'll want to bury them in the ground. Couple of general ideas:
1) Bury them where you will remember their location. Eg: Next to your secret base 2) Bury them by color 3) Bury them in order from largest to smallest and vice versa 4) Do not bury anything that is less than size 10. Not worth it in the long run
The Spheres will eventually fuse with one another if they match color and also grow. You will obtain higher spheres and lose less of your combined total by ordering them from largest to smallest. Simple as that
2) Combining Spheres
Burying largest to smallest is not nessessary! All the spheres put into the ground ADD to the FIRST sphere you put into the ground, so as long as the FIRST sphere is the sphere you wish to build off of, it doesn't matter if you go largest to smallest after that.
So basically, put the largest sphere first then all the small ones. Simple
4) [Capture The Flag]
Ah... capture the flag! By you and a friend (or more) are next to each other when you go underground, you can begin a possible game of capture the flag. Basically, find your buddies base, steal their flag and take it back to yours. To get yours back just catch up to the person that stole it. Here, I will give you a few general ideas to keep your base better protected:
-Set your base up in a dead end. The reason behind this is allowing other players less ways into your base and making sure they WILL get trapped! Also, gives your opponent less ways out of the base and takes more guess work out of where they could have run off to.
-Dead ends are always next to another dead end... leading to a trapping technique I call the death pit. I'll explain in the trapping section.
-Invest in Maze decoration. This will make it harder for your opponent to get TO your flag and make them spend MORE time getting that flag.
In multi player mode, your opponent can see the traps you have laid by just checking for them via pings! This makes it a bad idea to actually lay traps right next to your secret base. Lay them aways from your base, out of eye sight and remember to change your secret base location after you challenge someone so it's less obvious.
You can't play CTF unless both of your bases are in the same sect of the Underground.
If you move your secret base (via another digger drill) you keep your flag earnings
When you get 10 flags and upgrade to a Golden Flag, you can use the Radar by leaving the door to your base open, and you can just scan for the areas you've buried spheres at. The game itself alerts you when someone steps into your base on the box at the top screen.
5) [Traps And How To Escape Them]
First off: FLOWER/LEAF TRAP SUCKS. PERIOD. Don't get them. *ahem* moving on...
The art of trapping.... very delicate to perform well and oh so awesome when set off just right. It is my PERSONAL favorite thing to spend time on underground other than mining and maze work. For trapping, you want to definatly set yourself up in a dead end, but NOT next to a corner. This way, you can have less safe ways into your base and only one non-trapped way in. Couple of general concepts:
1) Get ALOT of hurl traps!!!! These bad boys are the skeleton of your trap system and lead to trapping combos!
2) Get ALOT of confusion traps!!! These are the second part of your trap system and puts your opponent in a horrible situation.
3) Get only the following traps: Fire, Hole, Stonefall and Bubble. The other traps break alot easier.
How to escape each trap:
Fire/Leaf/Flower: Blow into the mic Smoke: Wipe the smoke off the screen Rock: Tap the rock untill it breaks Foam: Tap each bubble untill they are all gone | |
